Ang Frs X Strs made 250-260c per kg returning up to $1482
Numbers increased this week at Mt Gambier to 285 cattle. It is however getting increasingly hard to get trucks into some yards as the wet weather continues. The best autumn start in years has turned into the wettest start to winter for some time. The cattle market was at least firm to dearer depending on the class of the livestock. The usual field of buyers were present, but they were selective on their bidding.
BULLS: Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Jordan Heinrich
This small yarding of beef bred bulls saw prices of 200-220c per kg.
HEAVY STEERS AND BULLOCKS: Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Liam Durcan
The small yarding of steers and bullocks consisted mainly of beef and dairy cross types. Processors and heavy feeder orders competed at fully firm rates. The best heavy Angus x steers made 300-305c per kg, while beef dairy cross types made from 210-260c per kg and the straight dairy steers 200-208c per kg.

YOUNG CATTLE: Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Peter Creek and Liam Durcan.
The young cattle quality was fair at best, with some better heavy heifers and more restocker types. The young cattle sale was at least firm to 15c dearer especially for the grown heifers. Grown heifers over 500kg 250-310c per kg. Trade heifers 280-320c per kg (with feeders active). Trade steers 300-334c per kg.

COWS: Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan and Jordan Heinrich.
Some good quality heavy beef cows came forward, these were dry high yielding types. The best beef cows sold 205-228c per kg. Restockers were active on the lighter and plainer type beef cows.
Quotations: KJ & MJ Mountford Sim x cows 215c 676kg $1453. RW & CJ Merrett Killarnie Ang cows topped the MWJ run 228c 784kg $1787. Glenford Partnership Poll Her cows 210c 595kg $1249.

A very small yarding consisting of all lambs no sheep to solid demand with the better kill lambs making from $145 to $165. Secondary types selling from $80 to $125.
