On a positive note, strong sales on manufacturing steers and cows continued with prices dearer. Good bullocks and prime yearling cattle have lost momentum as processors find it hard to move the top end cuts. Bullocks top 312c, grass fed yearling steers 350c, grass fed yearling heifers 340c, beef cows 275c and vealers top of 370c per kg.

2705 sheep and lambs sold, 1500 more than last week. A very good quality yarding of lambs, with the buyers responding accordingly, paying up to $9.00/kg consistently over the yarding. Restockers had limited opportunities with the strong pressures from trade and wholesale purchasers. Best export lambs from 26 to 30kg plus, from $232 to $268 and heavy trades 24 to 26kg from $215 to $225. Supermarket lambs in the 22 to 24kg bracket sold extremely well from $200 to $214. All trade lambs from 18 to 20kg were from $185 to $200.
