Boonaroo Partnership yarded an outstanding run of heavy Angus cows selling to 312c to average $2186.66

A very mixed yarding this week.  The bullock run failed to match the quality of recent weeks, with a yarding that mainly suited feeder orders.  Feeders also dominated the yearling run.  Cows remained solid with some good runs of heavy beef cows.

A solid bull run this week with the best bulls making 300c with other sales being 240-270c per kg.

109 bullocks yarded.  Quality was very mixed with price trends easing, with most bullocks selling between 330-380c per kg.  Manufacturing dairy steers eased 10 to 15 cents.

354 yearlings and vealers yarded.  All sold to cheaper rates with the very best vealers making 390 to 430c per kg with buyers being very selective.  Grass fed yearlings eased 8 to 12 cents on quality with prices 350-385c per kg.

A small yarding of lambs lacking the quality of previous weeks sold to a cheaper market.  Prices slipped $10-$15 in line with what has been happening at other selling centres earlier in the week.  Heavy export lambs 26-32kg made from $185-$200 with only a few pens yarded.  Trade lambs 20-25kg sold from $120-$180.  Light lambs under 20kg made from $35-$114, with restockers active to $110.  A small number of sheep made from $33-$90.

KJ & MJ MOUNTFORD TOPPED THE MWJ RUN



Prices and competition increased for the yarding of 624 cattle this week. A very positive cattle market that saw the good quality yarding at prices firm to 15c per kg dearer for the various classes. Yearlings and heavy steers received the biggest lift in prices.

BULLS: Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Jordan Heinrich

A similar run of mainly beef bulls sold from 260–290c per kg to be fully firm on last week.

HEAVY STEERS AND BULLOCKS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Scott Miller.

A much stronger sale this week, with all classes dearer, especially manufacturing types. Prices were generally 10 - 15c per kg better than last week. Heavy steers and bullocks sold to strong processor and heavy feeder orders. The best heavy steers made 360 - 400c per kg while the beef x steers made 330 - 360c per kg. A big run of Friesian Steers came forward and these met strong buyer demand at 280 - 326c per kg.

Some very good quality grass heifers came forward and sold to strong trade and feeder competition being 10 - 15c per kg dearer. Trade heifers realised 370 - 396c per kg and heavy heifers over 500kg 350 – 385c per kg. Vealers too met stronger demand to be 10c per kg dearer with steers making 385 - 406c per kg and vealer heifers 375 - 400c per kg.

Mundoolun Angus Cows 310c per kg sold to $2,284.70



A lighter yarding of mixed quality cattle with export grade cattle prices remaining firm to dearer.  Plainer, inferior bred young cattle eased.  Good quality vealers showing freshness were in demand as they sold to 472c per kg.  Yearling steers and heifers to the trade made 340-390c per kg.  The cow market was strong for all classes with the best heavy bred cows selling to 328c.  Bullocks remained solid selling between 370-400c per kg.

BOONAROO ANGUS BULL SALE REPORT – 17/2/23

Congratulations to Shane & Jodie Foster and family with their outstanding run of 123 bulls.  A total clearance selling to a top of $30,000 for Boonaroo Lincoln S132.  The even line up of bulls met competition from both new and many return clients to average $14,040.  Bidding was strong all the way through the sale with bulls going to SA And Victorian producers with leading genetics.

This week saw strong buying activity at the sale yards as export processors were keen to purchase a bigger percentage of the prime cattle. More manufacturing dairy steers with prices 5 to 8cents dearer. Top beef bullocks sold between 355-400c per kg with dairy steers 275-315c per kg. More young cattle this week were purchased by the trade with fresh vealers lifting 20cents selling to 504c per kg, vealers 420-440c per kg. The cow market again remained strong with pens of beef cows selling 282-320c per kg and light chopper cows 230-265c per kg.

KG FEAST’S BOONAROO BLOOD ANGUS STEERS SOLD TO REPEAT BUYERS

The first full week of sales this week saw some mixed results for the various classes. Quality was generally good for the much larger yarding of 1292 this being 657 more than last week. The heavy steers and bullocks ere firm to 15c per kg easier, the young cattle also sold to easier rates while cows were fully firm to dearer.

BULLS: Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Jordan Heinrich

A larger run of bulls sold to softer competition.  Heavy bulls account KG Feast & Son 330c 1200kg $3960 and 310c 1045kg $3239.

BULLOCKS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Jordan Heinrich.

A larger run of heavy steers and bullocks that was mixed in breed and type with all weights and types offered.  Condition and weight was readily available.  The manufacturing type Frs steers sold slightly back on last weeks improved rates 290-340c per kg.  Processors purchased steers 360-410c per kg while feeder orders were also active.

The young cattle sold to a full field of buyers but at reduced rates, of up to 20c per kg less than last week.  Some very good quality vealers came forward with the best steers making 370-440kg and vealer heifers 350-400c per kg.  Yearling heifers made 360-405c per kg.  Yearling steers 360-435c per kg.

Quotations: GW & CB Pitt Her steers 396c 453kg $1796.  Roxley Park Ang heifers 366c 451kg $1653.  Quality Sim x vealers A/c Douglas & Lockett saw steers 435c 470kg $2044 and 418c 396kg $1658.  The Sim x heifers made 400c 397kg $1590.

The cows were fully firm to slightly dearer than last week with plenty of condition on some.  Heavy beef cows 290-335c, light cows 240-280c.

A larger yarding of 5000 lambs + 169 sheep sold to all the regular buyers. Processors competed keenly on the heavy lambs to secure their share with heavy kill lambs lifting $5 to $10 while secondary and store lambs sold at rates consistent from the previous week.  Heavy export lambs 26-32kg made from $205 to $262, trade lambs 20-25kg made from $144 to $201.  Light lambs under 20kg sold to processors from $89 to $140 with re-stockers purchasing light lambs $28-$78 and the better-quality stores from $80 to $131.  A small number of sheep made $55 to $110.

MT GAMBIER COMBINED AGENTS STORE SALE REPORT -  6/01/23

At the January Store Cattle Sale held last Friday just under 2800 cattle came forward predominately autumn drop weaners. Quality was generally very good with good runs of all breeds on offer. The cattle showed the positive effects of the good finish to the season with very few calves under 300kg live weight. Two feedlots were selective with their purchases with the bulk of the cattle being absorbed locally with some south east and western Victorian interest.The steer sale although cheaper than December was better than expected and $50 to $80 dearer than Naracoorte and Mortlake the previous day. The best heavy weaner steers 350kg plus made 455-500c per kg or $1620 to $1920, the 300kg plus steers made $1450 to $1740 and 465-525c per kg.

The weaner heifers again were cheaper than last month and lacked the interest of buyers to join them to bulls like last month. The heifers made from 435-523c per kg or $1380 to $1850, lighter heifers $1050 to $1280.

Quotations: M&M Arthurson’s 20 Ang Strs $1800, KG Feast & Sons 27 Ang Strs $1750 and Ang x Strs $1740, MJ & HJ Ruwoldt’s Ang Strs $1700, Dunorer’s Hfrd Strs $1600 and $1510. The annual draft of Patanga’s outstanding Shn Strs again a feature. The 28 heaviest making $1810 and 30 seconds $1760 and 26 @ $1600 the Char Shn x Strs made $1750 to $1830 all to repeat buyers.

In the weaner heifers again, Patanga topped the market with 21 Char Shn x making $1710. AW & KK Wilsons Shn Hfrs made $1490 to $1610.

The first sale of 2023 opened with price trends for cattle this week generally dearer as they sold to the regular buying group. Bullocks 500kg to 650kg sold to 466c per kg, Vealers sold to 465c per kg and Cows 290-335c per kg.

The last market for 2022 saw numbers reduce slightly to 975 cattle. Some very good quality came forward, prices for bullocks were firm while young cattle prices were generally softer. The heavy cows sold to stronger demand being 8-10c per kg dearer. Markets will resume with cattle and lambs 04/01/23 and the January store sale 06/01/23.

A smaller run of beef bulls sold from 290-345c per kg.

HEAVY STEERS AND BULLOCKS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Elijah Firth

A good quality yarding was offered with all weights and grades represented. Trade and export buyers were active on suitable bullocks at 370-429c per kg and heavy feeders also sold at similar rates. There were a few pens of Friesian steers, with these selling at fully firm rates or 315-348c per kg.

MT. GAMBIER COMBINED AGENTS ANGUS STORE SALE - Report For Friday 09/12/22

In a first, the Mt. Gambier agents yarded just under 3300 cattle last Friday. The yarding was predominately weaner cattle with a few pens of yearling cattle in both the strs and hfrs. The heavy feeder strs over 400kg made $2150 to $2450 to feedlots. The heavy weaner strs sold to local and some NSW competition at $1700 to $2100 at rates of 500-540c per kg. The lighter wnr strs prices didn’t drop away much selling $1500 to $1720. The heavy yearling hfrs made $1650 to $1980 or 370-400c per kg. The straight Ang Hfr wnrs were the highlight of the day selling to strong re-stocker interest to go back to bulls. These Hfrs outsold their brothers selling to strong local and NSW competition, Ang Hfrs $1600 to $2180 and Light Hfrs $1380 to $1610.

Quotations: Killarnie tops of the drop Hfrs $2180 and $2000. Highbury Ang Hfrs $1960 and Cranleigh Hfrs $1780.

The largest yarding this spring with some excellent lines of prime bullocks and grassfed yearlings with milk vealers carrying more weight. All the usual buying group attended and were active at lower levels with price corrections over the slaughter cattle. Best milk vealers eased 5-10c per kg, grass fed steers and heifers 10c per kg and cows sold fully firm on last weeks cheaper rates.

Quality improved in the much larger yarding of 1110 cattle this week, 381 more than last week. The excellent spring feed saw some well finished bullocks and some very good heavy cows penned. The better quality did not help the prices as all classes sold at lower rates. A feature of MWJ’s run was a magnificent pen of Angus cows A/c Boonaroo that weighed an amazing 893kg.

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Jordy Heinrich. A large run of mainly heavy beef bulls sold to a solid competition. Most heavy bulls made 350-398c per kg.

Quotations: Boonaroo Ang Bull 365c 890kg $3248.  

HEAVY STEERS AND BULLOCKS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Scott Miller. The very good spring conditions saw some very good quality bullocks and steers presented and they are starting to weigh on behalf of the vendor. Prices were at lower levels with the Friesian Steers the most heavily discounted. The best quality heavy steers and Ox 448-495c per kg. Cross bred types 330–370c per kg, Frs Strs 322–338c per kg.

Again, a very mixed run of young cattle especially for November with many mixed types and splitter calves on offer. More milk vealers come forward but like the grass yearlings they sold at easier rates. Heavy heifers over 500kg 400-445c per kg, trade heifers 425-460c per kg. Feedlots purchased the yearling steers 495-535c per kg. The better milk vealers steers 528-560c per kg while milk vealer heifers 525-556c per kg.

Light weight trade lambs 16-20kg made $116 to $158, with limited re-stocker competition buying lambs from $67 to $124. Heavy mutton sold from $100 to $138 and light weight mutton made $50 to $91.

NOVEMBER STORE CATTLE REPORT 11/11/22 - 2417 cattle were offered and were generally of good quality. Feeders were active but gross driven re-stockers dominated the market, with South East and Western Victorians all active. The heavy steers and feeder weighted steer sold at easier rates, while re-stockers pushed weaner types to fully firm rates. The heifers sold at rates fully firm to dearer, only a small mixed run of cows came forward. Feeder steers $2250 - $2630, weaner steers $2000 - $2350, Light steers $1850 - $2050. Heavy heifers over 360kg $2000 - $2250, weaner heifers $1750 - $2100.

Price trends weakened in a larger sale this week with quality again very good with prime finish a feature of the sale. A large field of trade and processor buyers along with feedlotters and restocker attended. More grassfed yearlings and more milk vealers came forward with quality very good as cattle showed signs of a spring finish. Vealer prices improved up to 10c per kg while bullocks eased along with cow prices.   

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Jordy Heinrich. Plenty of quality in the bulls this week with prices firm with best beef bulls ranging from 370-400c per kg.
